45. The Creational Principles
💡
Creational principles address the question of when and how we introduce new abstractions, aiming to prevent code bloat, reduce duplication, and keep things minimal. Tools like TDD (test-driven development) and object calisthenics can act as triggers for factoring out classes or methods at the right time, rather than too early or too late.
Chapter Goals
- Explore four creational guidelines.
- Understand real-life eCommerce contexts (like discount logic, user profiles) where these principles shine.
- Connect TDD and object calisthenics to each principle, ensuring we create abstractions at the right moment. …
Howdy 👋
This is an online wiki about the main topics over the last 40 years of software design, architecture & testing. It was created by Khalil Stemmler.
This wiki's mission is to help eliminate the unknown unknowns, helping you get up to speed on the best practices and principles to write testable, flexible, and maintainable code.
I created this wiki while I was connecting the dots on my own path. You can read more about that learning journey in the introduction
